Isakson Speaking Clearly from Both Sides of his Mouth

by Ron Davis on March 15, 2010

I was sick this weekend, so I didn’t get this posted on Saturday when it should have gone online.

One of my more recent frustrations with Johnny Isakson is how he keeps claiming he’s a fiscally conservative Republican, when his record in the Senate clearly indicates he is not.  Pete Randall posted an excellent article on Peach Pundit on Saturday that details how Isakson and Chambliss love to spend money.

Since Pete’s article is written way better than I could have ever possibly written it, I’ll not rehash it all here.  It’s a long post, but it’s worth your time to read it.  I will, however, leave you with these two paragraphs from the post, where Pete absolutely hit the nail on the head regarding Isakson and Chambliss.

Chambliss and Isakson are not solely to blame for getting us into this predicament. The blame should be equally shared. But they are endemic of the problem in the Republican Party where words are seen in the highest echelons to be enough and that actual deeds can be thrown to the side.

Responsible spending is not a trendy codeword or a theme for a campaign. It is a way of life and must be demonstrated daily in each and every individual vote regarding Federal spending in the U.S. Senate. For Chambliss and Isakson, their actions are how they will be judged. Thus far, they are failing miserably.
